Hi Bruce,

The FDCPA only covers collection agency, although most credit card companies abide by it.

Is the FDCPA Law for Collection Agency (3rd party) only or does it cover the actual credit card company that is calling you direct?

What is the SOL in California?

By the way, I found it very entertaining the that Statute of Limitations' abbreviation is SOL; as in "the credit card company will be SOL in 6 years."

Thanks!

this happened to me. no late payments in 20+ yeas. was late with one payment. And i sent it usual time but mail was late and FIA Credit services on another card, not the late one raised me from 11.9% to 29.9% across the other 2 cards i had. so any news on how i can lower that back down?

I am actually scared to death to check mine. #1, I know my credit is in the toilet, but I am afraid to find out how deep in the toilet. #2, I view it as one of those weird fears, like a fear of public speaking. Nothing bad is going to happen to me if I check (the damage is already done) but I just prefer not to know. I ordered a free report about mid to late last year. I received the envelope, looked at it to verify it was my report and filed it. I guess I need to go take a look very soon even though its probably already outdated.

Thanks for the good information. I have someone I'm trying to help that is going to owe taxes on forgiven credit card debt. The government never makes it easy!
